Facts

  • In the early 1980s, Ram Holdings Limited proposed a CDN$1 billion (1980 dollars) area of development just north of downtown. It was envisioned to provide 3,000,000 square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail, 1,600 apartment units and parking for 4,000 vehicles.
  • The project's boundary would have been the since-removed CN tracks (104 Avenue) north to 107 Avenue between 101 and 105 Streets.
  • The general design concept called for progressively shorter buildings going north providing a sloped effect up to downtown proper. Redevelopment of the area would have been completed by many different developers.
  • The intention was to close 103 Street from 105 to 107 Avenue for a pedestrian mall.
