The complex was built on the former site of the Three Coins Motel and Bonanza Hotel.
This complex was originally built as the home of the first MGM Grand Casino and Hotel.
In 1980 the MGM Grand Casino, formerly located in current Bally's complex, suffered the United States' second-deadliest hotel fire in its history, killing 84 people and injuring 679, with most damage being done to Bally's North Tower and the adjacent casino.
The original data indicated these towers to be 362 feet in height. This is obviously incorrect when judged against towers near the Bally's towers.
