Facts

  • Built in 1992 to hold all the sportsmen and sportswomen that had to come to Barcelona because of the Olympic Games.
  • Some of the buildings in the Olympic village are in a very poor condition with major structural problems, yet, the City Council tries to save them.
  • The most important catalan architects designed the buildings. Some names are Ricardo Bofill, Oriol Bohigas, Igancio Paricio, Elias Torres...
  • The Hotel Arts and Mapfre are commonly referred to as twin towers, but they are in fact neither identical in appearance nor structure. Mapfre Tower has a central concrete core, and Hotel Arts has an all-steel structure.
