Caraguatatuba was named by the Tamois Indians who at that dwelled on the north coast.
It's considered the biggest city of the north coast and geographic center lives off tourism.
It's 40 km of coast with 17 beachs, preserved Atlantic Forests and a great number of sightseeing options. The city has good hotels, inns and restaurants. Night entertainment is considered one of the most exiting of the region with nightclubs, bar and tents with live music.
