Iida city is surrounded by parks and forests, the Southern Japan ALPS National Park to the east, the Central Japan ALPS Prefectural Park in the west, and the Tenryu-Okumikawa Quasi-national Park in the south.
The dramatist Kishina Kunio imortalized the city with his song,
Oh, Iida ! lovely town,
with hills behind and river front,
where the sky is bright and a
fragrance wafts on the breeze…
Japan`s 213th largest city.
