Located 15 miles east of Knoxville, Sevierville is the seat of Sevier County. Founded in 1795, the city takes its name from John Sevier who served as a colonel in the American Revolutionary Army and as the first governor of the state of Tennessee. Sevierville is now widely known as being the western gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and as the hometown of country music legend Dolly Parton.
