About Hod HaSharon

56,659 in city
19 km² (7 mi²)
The city was formed in 1965 as four small villages were united into one municipality. Founded in the 1920s, these four villages, Magdiel, Kfar Hadar, Ramat Hadar and Ramataim, were for decades small agricultural communities growing citrus groves and orchards in the fertile terrain of the Sharon region, in the centre of Israel to the north of Tel Aviv. After it's unification the city has experienced rapid growth resulting in a one-of mixed land use pattern of parks, orchards, industrial parks, high-density residential neighbourhoods and the low-density neighbourhoods of the historic villages. Nowdays the city still retains a somewhat 'village' atmosphere.
