Revere is located on Massachusetts Bay four miles northeast of Boston. Mostly residential in character, it is also home to several industries. First settled around 1630, it was a part of Boston until 1739. In 1871 its name was changed from Chelsea to Revere in honor of the American Revolutionary patriot Paul Revere.
Revere is also home to Revere Beach, which was established as the first public beach in the USA in 1896.
