City located just south of Seattle with a population of around 30,000. Burien incorporated in 1993 but was first settled in the 1870s. A trolly line connected Seattle to this suburb in the 1910s which brought more settelers to the area.
The city is in the process of building a new Town Square which will feature hundereds of condo and townhouse units over retail and commercial space. Completion of this ambitious project is expected in 2009 or 2010.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport lies on Burien's eastern border.
