Warren, the seat of Trumbull County, lies on the Mahoning River 13 miles northwest of Youngstown. It is an industrial city with a diverse economy including automotive, wiring, electronics, and steel industries. It was settled in 1794 and named for Moses Warren, a surveyor for the Connecticut Land Company. It was the first and only capital of the Western Reserve, Connecticut’s colony in what is now northeastern Ohio. Phalanx Mill, a relic of a Fourierist communal colony from the 1840s, is located nearby.
