Sandy Springs was long an unincorporated area in northern Fulton County, just north of Atlanta. An overwhelming majority of local voters approved incorporation in June 2005, with the new city established on December 1, 2005. Sandy Springs is Atlanta's largest suburb, now with an estimated population of over 100,000. It also has the tallest suburban towers in the United States, Concourse at Landmark Center.
