West Vancouver has the most expensive real estate in all of Canada. Attractions include Cypress Bowl on Hollyburn Mountain, Park Royal Centre, Ambleside Beach, Dundarave Pier and Lighthouse Park.
Park Royal Centre opened in September 1950 and was the first shopping centre in Canada. Today, it features nearly 300 stores.
In the District, 28.8 sq. kms. are existing neighbourhood areas, with 7 sq. kms. undeveloped upper lands below 1200 feet elevation, 18.2 sq. kms. as limited use and recreation areas, 17.2 sq. kms. is Cypress Provincial Park, and 16.2 sq. kms. is Metro Vancouver watershed.
