Midway between Fort Myers and Naples on Florida's southwest coast, Bonita Springs is a city composed of many master-planned communities. In the 1920s the Bonita Springs area experienced an outgrowth of the real estate boom of Fort Myers. In 1923, the Fort Myers Southern Railroad, a subsidiary of the Atlantic Coast Line, built a railroad to Bonita Springs from Fort Myers. Bonita Spring’s beach, known as Bonita Beach, is a major tourist attraction of the city. Other attractions of Bonita Springs include the Everglades Wonder Gardens and the Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track.
