Pasig, originally a suburb of Manila, is now one of the most urbanized cities in the metropolis. Proof of this is seen in the sheer amount of growth and development it has experienced since the Asian Development Bank (located in the Mandaluyong side of the Ortigas Center) set up its headquarters in the late 1980s. It is home to most of the buildings of the Ortigas Center, including those occupied by some of the most prominent companies and institutions in the Philippines, such as San Miguel Corporation, Manila Electric Company, Jollibee Foods and most notably, the Philippine Stock Exchange.
