On opening, the Langham was the first Grand Hotel in Europe.
In the 1950s, The Palm Court Restaurant was used as the BBC's recording studio for 'The Goon Show', featuring Michael Bentine, Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe and Peter Sellers - the BBC's Broadcasting House is just opposite.
The five-star hotel was restored and expanded in the 1990s, with much of the interior retained.
In 2004, the Langham became a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
