Facts

  • Initially designed in 2004, it has since been retooled to raise all of its electrical equipment off the ground to protect it from high water. This was done as it is being built in an area that was inundated with water in the aftermath of August 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
  • Its first test piles were driven in July 2007.
  • This represents the first major investment in rebuilding New Orleans' decimated health care industries following 2005's Hurricane Katrina.
