  • In May 2007, the Civic Society urged Birmingham City Council to reject plans to build the Lancaster Circus Tower building at the Central Fire Station site because it felt it would ruin the grade II listed building.
  • In early November 2007, the Central Fire Station at Lancaster Circus was sold for £10 million to a developer with ambitions to build Lancaster Circus Tower on the site.
  • In May 2007, early proposals indicated that the Central Fire Station building would be kept intact and a glass-fronted skyscraper built rising up out of the central courtyard, similar to Hearst Tower in New York.
