Facts

  • The Old Ramsey County Jail is built into a cliff along the Mississippi River. There is a small entrance floor and large public plaza along Kellogg Boulevard, with 7 floors of offices and jail cells below.
  • It was replaced in 2003 with a new Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center, located approximately 1 mile to the northeast.
  • Ramsey County tried to sell the building to take advantage of its unique location and Mississippi River views. The West Publishing Redevelopment project was selected over several proposals, but fell through in late 2006.
  • On 2 October 2007, the Ramsey County Board voted to demolish this building. The land will then be offered for sale.
