  • The church is heritage listed by the National Trust of Victoria and is a member of the Historical Buildings Council.
  • The church can accommodate over 1,000 worshippers.
  • The church was completed between 1870 and 1872, albeit without its spires as proposed in the original design.
  • Cathedrals aside, St. Mary of the Angels is the largest place of worship in Australia.
  • In 1857, all work stopped on the new church, leaving a half-completed building which was lamented as an eyesore for Geelong.
