Facts

  • This stadium seats 50,250 people and was built in five phases: 1906, 1921, 1930, 1963 and 1967. It is the oldest football stadium in continuous use in Division I college football west of the Mississippi River.
  • Memorial Stadium is also home to one of college sports legendary track and field events: the Kansas Relays. There are four spring track meets held consecutively at the University of Texas, the KU Relays, Drake Relays in Des Moines and the Penn Relays.
  • From the top level down, the west grandstand is: U. of Kan. Mem. Stadium Press Boxes, 3 levels; Ward Family Scholarships Suites, 3 levels; concession/ service space, 2 levels; public areas (food service, tickets, restrooms, stairs and elevators, lower 2 levels.
  • Completely remodeled with a new press box and luxury donor suites, added at a cost of $34 million dollars in 2002.
  • Ground was broken in the summer 2006 for an indoor training center and football offices at the southeast corner of the stadium.
