  • The bridge was not named after President William McKinley, but was named after William Brown McKinley, the head of the Illinois Terminal Railroad.
  • The toll bridge, owned by the City of Venice was foreclosed on by the City of St. Louis and closed indefinitely.
  • To help relieve congestion on the downtown bridges, the bridge was reconstructed and reopened December 17, 2007.
