  • This bridge features an observatory, which will be the first of its kind in the United States and only the third of its kind in the world.
  • The general public was invited to walk across and view the bridge up close on October 14, 2006 which was just over two months before it opened to vehicular traffic.
  • The bridge opened to vehicle traffic on December 30, 2006, leaving only parts of the obsevatory and some minor aspects of construction left to be completed.
