Facts

  • The name Värmekyrkan ("The Heating Church") refers to its' appearance of an industrialized version of a medieval cathedral, but the building has never been used in any religious contexts.
  • Each December the building, together with its four 14 metre tall chimneys that stand on a row on the roof, form what is claimed to be the world's largest Advent candlestick when electrical flames are lit at the top of each of the chimneys.
  • Originally built as a boiler house and heating central for the surrounding industries, the building has been renovated and used as a conference and event centre since 2000.
