  • The building was restored and renovated in 2004.
  • The former Twin City Rapid Transit Company Powerhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 25, 1994.
  • The Southeast Steam Plant provides steam for heating to virtually every University of Minnesota building on the East and West Banks, plus the University of Minnesota Medical Center.
  • The plant heats water through the burning of mostly natural gas, some coal, wood waste, and may be permitted to use other waste biomass fuels.
