  • Unfortunately four men lost their lives during construction.
  • Construction took one year longer than the planned four years to complete.
  • This bridge is the largest steel bridge designed, fabricated and constructed in Australia by Australians.
  • 39,100 cubic metres of spoil were excavated for the foundations.
  • 1,650 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 12,000 tonnes of structural steel were used in construction.
  • The bridge has guided climbs and is one of only three bridge climbs in the world.
