Facts

  • This was one of two proposals submitted to support the Convention Center expansion that will take the place of the RCA Dome, this hotel was planned for the plaza associated with Pan American Plaza.
  • The 1016-key hotel would have been topped with 72 residential condominiums, and would have become the tallest hotel in Indianapolis, by far. Completion was anticipated by early 2010.
  • Mayor Bart Peterson's Hotel Selection Advisory Panel selected the Marriott Place Indianapolis, with multiple Marriott nameplates, over this one in December 2006. Some issues cited included the developer's lack of ownership of the Pan Am Plaza site and the diminished name recognition of InterContinental in comparison to Marriott.
