  • The water tower is built atop the highest elevation in Giant City State Park.
  • The water tank holds 100,000 gallons of water.
  • The water tower's design resembles the Russian satellite 'Sputnik' which was the first man-made satellite launched into orbit. This has won the water tower the nickname, 'Space Age' Water Tower of Giant City.
  • The water tower features a public observation deck 50 feet above the ground with views of the Shawnee Mountains. A spiral staircase provides visitors with access up one of the tower's legs.
  • In 1972 the architect of the water tower won an award of excellence from the American Water Tank Association.
