Facts

  • The water tower was built by the W.E. Caldwell Company for the G.S. Suppiger catsup bottling plant.
  • When in service the water tower could hold 100,000 gallons of water.
  • Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
  • The water tower had fallen into disrepair by 1995 and was nearly demolished. Local residents created the Catsup Bottle Preservation Group to raise funds to restore and maintain the water tower.
  • The local landmark is no longer used as a water tower.
  • Recognized as the world's largest catsup bottle, it has become a local landmark and tourist attraction.
  • The water tower was required by the G.S. Suppiger catsup bottling plant for fire safety.
