Facts

  • Sainte-Clotilde Basilica is rare among Paris churches in that it has symmetrical twin spires.
  • The Paris municipal council passed an ordinance in 1827 that called for the building of a church dedicated to St. Charles, and retained the architect Jean-Nicolas Huyot for the job. But construction did not start for years afterwards, and finally the project was led by the architect François-Christian Gau.
