Facts

  • The old tower was 165 feet tall with a cab floor height of 126 feet.
  • The dedication ceremony and open house was held in early 2000.
  • The administrative/equipment support base building contains 10,000 sq. ft. for administrative offices as well as computers, communication and other electronic equipment.
  • Structure was precast with cast-in-place stitch walls for a seismic zone 3 condition.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration awarded the building with the National Facility of the Year award in 2000.
  • Although the tower was completed in 1998, because of systems equipment installation, integration and testing, it was December 5, 1999 before the new tower began full operations.
  • Top cab was made of structural steel.
  • Top of the ACTT is 291 feet above sea level.
  • The cab floor height of the new tower is 231 feet above grade.
  • The foundation was four 7' caisson 130' deep.
