  • This triumphal arch was one of two arches built by Napoleon Bonaparte to commemorate his grand army's victories.
  • The arch is faced with rose marble, and includes eight Corinthian columns constructed of granite.
  • The arch is part of the "Grand Axe", the nine-kilometre-long linear route which is anchored at one end by La Grande Arche and by Musée du Louvre at the other.
