Facts

  • The institution's name was in honor of Elizabeth Ann Seton who founded the Daughters of Charity.
  • The Daughters of Charity bought the land in around 1899 for just $5,300. The state granted a charter for the institution in 1900.
  • A cul-de-sac that ended at the main entrance of the building on the south side was renamed Seton Avenue.
  • Seton Healthcare moved to Seton Medical Center in 1975. The old building was demolished and replaced by a block of apartments shortly afterwards.
