  • As part of the building's re-development the ground floor lobby will be restored to its former 1940s glory.
  • The building’s formal architectural value lies in its early, well executed ’modernist’ influenced form and ornamentation; applied to a commercial multi-storey structure.
  • The building is acknowledged as the only large-scale example of ‘inter-war stripped classical’ architecture in Adelaide, and is one of the few high integrity examples remaining in Australia.
  • This building is regarded as a notable exponent of the Functionalist and International style of architecture by the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.
  • This building survived a 1988 proposal to demolish it, and replace it with a $45 million, 18 level office tower.
