Facts

  • The main church of the Milwaukee Catholic Archdiocese was originally constructed with an onion dome rising to 306 feet above the sidewalk.
  • A fire destroyed most of the church on January 29, 1935. The tower, north and south walls were left standing.
  • The church was rebuilt from designs by William Richard Perry of Comes, Perry & McMullen.
  • The original tower was replaced with a new tower in the Renaissance style by Ferry & Clas in 1893.
