Facts

  • Originally the home of the Woodward & Lothrop Department Store, the Woodies Building has been renovated and reconfigured during 2003-2004 into office space with 1st and 2nd floor retail.
  • The oldest part of the existing structure is along G Street NW, designed by Henry Ives Cobb and completed in 1902.
  • Additions along F Street NW in 1912 and 1913 were joined with the G Street Building in 1925 by a new center section designed by Linden Kent Ashford.
  • Two additional office floors added atop the structure in 2003-2004 were designed by Shalom Baranes Associates.
  • The renovation architects were recognized with a 2005 Merit Award for Architecture from the Washington, DC chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
