  • The St. Paul Central Library was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and made a St. Paul Heritage Preservation Site in 1979.
  • The east wing houses the James J. Hill Reference Library, financed largely through contributions by St. Paul railroad baron, James J. Hill. The library is a nationally-recognized business reference library, and is accessible to the public.
  • The James J. Hill Reference Library features a grand atrium open to three shelving mezzanines and two additional floors of storage and offices.
