Facts

  • This was one of Detroit's first high rises and one of the first buildings in Detroit to contain an electrical elevator.
  • By 1910, the F.J. Schwankovsky Company had ceased operations and the building became a multi-tenant jewelry store. It housed the Wright Kay jewelry firm from 1920 to 1978.
  • The building currently contains a clothing shop on the ground floor, a restaurant on the 2nd and office space on floors 3-6.
  • The second floor was originally a performance ballroom for the F.J. Schwankovsky Company.
