Facts

  • Two horizontal lifts on two pedestals give access to the first section, while a panoramic lift is used to access the second terrace.
  • The design was a result of an architectural competition held in 1997 by the Türkmenistan Government, won by Polimeks Group Architects.
  • The statue rotates every 24 hours so it can seen from all directions.
  • Three pedestals: a restaurant level at a height of 21.5 meters, the first observation terrace at 26 meters and a second observation terrace at 49.5 meters.
  • The arch was built to honour Turkmenistan's neutrality, which was declared in 1995.
  • The rotating bronze statue of Türkmenistan’s President Saparmurat Türkmenbaşı (Niazov) on top of the tower is coated with 23 carat gold.
