Facts

  • Kansas City, Kansas is competing with Charlotte, Daytona Beach, Richmond, VA; and Atlanta for the Hall of Fame.
  • The most glitzy feature would be a 6-story high video wall electronically displaying "retired' race cars.
  • Through 6/15/05, economic developers, business and civic leaders and the chamber of commerce have spent an estimated $300,000 in the effort to attract the Hall of Fame to the Midwest.
  • The cost of the proposed facility is in excess of $100-million.
  • The site is just southeast of Kansas Speedway, which opened in 2001, on a limestone bluff facing the two downtown Kansas City's.
  • The France Family, owners of NASCAR, will award the Hall to one of the five cities by the end of 2005.
