Facts

  • The Lynnhaven Hotel was built for the Jamestown Exhibition of 1907.
  • It was renamed the Southland Hotel soon after opening, and was rechristened the Commodore Maury in 1954 after renovation.
  • It is one of many buildings in downtown Norfolk displaying outstanding terra-cotta work.
  • A failed 2006 proposal sought to convert this from a hotel into a 45-unit condominium building.
