  • Built by farm equipment magnate and local arts patron Hart Massey in memory of his son Charles, a noted music lover.
  • Since its inaugural performance of Handel's Messiah, Massey Hall has hosted everything from rock concerts, boxing matches and weddings to movies, operas and speeches by Winston Churchill.
  • Seating capacity was reduced from 4000 to 2765 in 1933 to make way for a larger lobby and a balcony lounge.
