  • The tower is situated at the southeastern corner of the Kremlin triangle.
  • The Tower was named after the boyar Nikita Beklemishev’s estate located inside the Kremlin walls.
  • The tower’s other name - Moskvoretskaya - is linked to the bridge nearby.
  • The tower was of a very important strategic role as it protected the main ferry across Moskva River.
  • In 1680, the Tower was overbuilt with a high narrow marquee.
  • Initially, it was built in 1487-1488 by Italian architect Marco Fryazin.
