  • The building is an important example of early Second Renaissance revivalist architecture.
  • The budget for the renovation was US $29.3 million; although, earlier projections were about US $15 million.
  • The City Hall has been part of the US National Register of Historic Places since 1974.
  • The city of Portland declared the Portland City Hall a dangerous building in 1995.
  • The rotunda on SW 4th Avenue still bears the marks of the 120-foot crane that crashed shortly after the 1996 renovation had begun.
  • One of the earlier design proposals included a 200 foot clock tower which was never built.
