Facts

  • The stadium is dedicated to the soldiers of the United States armed forces, and features a Doughboy statue in the southern concourse as well as a granite memorial wall along the north entrance.
  • From 2002 to 2003 the old stadium was partly demolished, and a new modern structure was built within and above the old sides of the structure.
  • This is the tallest stadium in Chicago, surpassing U.S. Cellular Field by five feet at the time of construction (the latter has since been altered).
  • The east and west sides of the stadium feature long, open elevated colonnades. These were opened to the public as part of the renovation.
  • The newly-configured stadium reduced the seating from 66,944 to 61,500, making it the smallest NFL stadium.
  • Soldier Field is the only NFL stadium in which all the skyboxes and club seats are located on one side.
