Facts

  • This tower would rise in place of the 1957 house built for former mayor Richardson Dilworth.
  • The house is a colonial reproduction, and is widely credited with beginning to transformation on the Society Hill neighborhood from one of Philadelphia's worst slums to one of the city's most exclusive neighborhoods today.
  • The developer's application to tear down the Dilworth House was denied by the Philadelphia Historical Commission in Summer 2005.
  • A revised proposal was made public in February 2006. It includes the preservation of the Dilworth House facade, and increases the building height from 12 to 15 floors overground.
