  • Project was officially cancelled on February 24, 2009, leaving behind a fully excavated and boarded site.
  • Holborn Group bought the property from Cadillac Fairview in 2003 for an undisclosed sum. Cadillac had purchased the site in 2000.
  • In July 2006 the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain was expected to announce its participation in the project.
  • On October 20, 2008, construction was halted. Simon Lim, Holborn's president, told CBC it was not because of the international credit crisis. The project, a deep excavation pit, was put on hold for design changes.
  • Similar in design to Sweden's Turning Torso.
  • Developers have requested from the City an increase in floor ratio from 9.0 to 17.5 due to the small site.
  • June 7, 2005: Arthur Erickson, working with architects MCMP, designs a slim, triangular shaped glass tower which appears to twist 45 degrees from bottom to top, calling it "hyperbolic paraboloids".
  • Plans call for a rooftop public observation deck.
  • June 8, 2005: New "twisted" redesign unanimously approved by UDP as 'stunning, evocative, and beautiful, complementing Living Shangri-La'. Application for rezoning from DD to CD-1 reviewed.
  • The costly design went through its sixth and final revision - window mullions and structure - during late June 2006.
  • The 'palm court' public plaza is lit at night by fibre-optic lights embedded in the pavement.
  • Solar tubes on the roof help cut the building's power demands by up to 30 per cent.
  • The 51 enclosed balconies amount to 6,265 sq. ft.
  • The first design was unanimously rejected by members of the Urban Design Panel on March 16, 2005 as disappointing and ordinary.
  • Developers announced August 27, 2009 that the project will proceed. They are requesting more height for the tower.
  • Level 25 is a mechanical equipment floor, followed by residential units all the way to the top.
  • LEED Silver status will be pursued; all major consultant groups on the applicant team are LEED accredited (March 3, 2005).
  • On March 1, 2005 four architects were appointed to the Urban Design Panel for the purpose of reviewing 1133 West Georgia. Known as the Higher Building Review Panel, the appointees are Peter Ellis (Chicago), Matthias Sauerbruch (Berlin), Arthur Erickson (Vancouver), and Bing Thom (Vancouver).
  • On January 7, 2008 realtor Bob Rennie offered for sale a 7,400 square foot penthouse suite on the 59th and 60th floors with a record price tag for the city, of $28 million plus, working out to $3,800 a square foot.
  • Along with Living Shangri-La, with the addition of this 600-footer, the 1100-block West Georgia Street has anchored itself as the apex of the city skyline.
  • Public Meeting held March 15, 2005 at the Bayshore Tower complete with renderings and models plus guest architects Peter Ellis of SOM Chicago and Matthias Sauerbruch from Germany.
  • Proposed 1133 West Georgia tower is utilizing the exisiting site of Golden Ocean Plaza.
  • Height is 584 feet to top of uppermost floor and 600 feet to the the tip of the architectural highlight mechanical penthouse.
  • The hotel will house 147 guest rooms, with 218 residences above.
