Facts

  • This was the first building in Battle Creek dedicated to office and commercial use.
  • It was built along with the Post Tavern across South McCamly Street.
  • Several additions and alterations were made in 1913, including subdividing the top floor into two and the construction of a bridge across McCamly Street to the Post Tavern.
  • The original building was constructed of wood platform framing notched into the exterior brickwork; the 1913 addition was built of reinforced concrete.
