  • The foundations for the hotel were begun in 1917, but construction on the building did not commence until April 1929.
  • Member of National Trust Historic Hotels of America.
  • When the hotel opened on January 8, 1930 it included ground floor retail, 100 guest rooms on floors two through five, and 9 apartment units on the top floor.
  • The hotel changed hands many times between the 1950 to the 1980's, finally closing for good in December of 1982.
  • After its closing in 1982, multiple renovation projects for this hotel were planned, but all failed.
  • After 13 years of sitting vacant, Bruce and Christine Pesola, a local developer couple, bought the hotel in 1995 for $100,000, and renovated the hotel for $5,000,000 which was completed in 1997.
