Facts

  • The Brutalist tower features three rectangular concrete columns topped with observation platforms offering three different views over the Sault region.
  • The tower was originally built as a steeple for a church which was abandoned mid-construction. The tower was then dedicated as a memorial to the early missionary explorers who originally settled Michigan.
  • The tower has three observation platforms: the lowest is situated at 152 feet above ground level, the middle (and main) level is situated at 160 feet whilst the third, and highest is sited at 174.5 feet.
