Facts

  • Christ Church was built in 1854-55, with the tower and spire added in 1863. It formed part of a larger composition of buildings on Lancaster Gate and was built by Messrs F and H Francis.
  • In 1977, the body of the church was demolished as a result of fungal decay. A residential building known as Spire House was built on the site, incorporating the tower and spire of the church, which are now Grade II listed.
